Larry Geibel

Studied graphic art and illustration at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1970. With an interest in portrait renderings in pastel, oil, acrylic, greese pencil and stippled ink. This collection today is from early years to present. The pastel portrait is from a 1966 exhibit and the acrylic portrait of my father is from a 1970 assignment at the Art Institute. The watercolors were all done in the 1990's from various sources. The landscape of Prague was a test detail for a larger painting presented to a business client who also shot the photo. The Strathmore water color paper was difficult to manage the paint and water action but as it turned out it was pleasing to look at even with the inadvertent bleeds and blurs. The bright colors of the apple at the window came from my memory and a pencil sketch rendered from viewing through the window in a guest room at a retreat center early in a bright fall afternoon of 1990. The most recent work is a colored pencil portrait of the Pit Bull Keanu from this year for my neighbor who lost him to an illness. I am retired from over 50 years in the printing industry and I enjoy playing guitar and iPhone photography of family and events. Married to my beautiful wife of 49 years we are blessed with 4 children,10 grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
