Dana Deissler

A mostly lifelong Crawford County resident, I have raised two wonderful now grown children with my husband Scott. I started making jewelry as a way to take my mind off being on bed rest after a bad break and ligament/meniscus tears (tibia/knee) in 2004. At first, I fixed broken items from garage sales, etc, or made pieces from bought kits. As I improved, I realized that I loved designing my own pieces. Now I design and restructure jewelry pieces from broken jewelry, found objects, scrap or salvaged bits and bobs, upcycled fabric remnants. I also use independent artisan crafted enamel, lampwork (glass), resin, or clay components, vintage beads and materials, fair trade items (i.e., Kazuri ceramic beads from Kenya, paper beads from Uganda), and gemstone beads.

Most of my ear wires or posts are hypoallergenic niobium, titanium, silver or gold plated, or surgical steel and are made by independent artisans, not mass produced. I love, love, love color and using anodized metals allows me to incorporate more color into my pieces, leading to jewelry that looks as individual as you are! .
